Women's Track and Field Compete at Toy Drive Invite

ALLIANCE, Oh. - The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed in the Toy Drive Invitational Saturday afternoon hosted by Mount Union.

The women had four first-place finishes and eight in the Top Five.

Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) outran the field to win the 500m dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:21.84. She also placed second in the 60 hurdles final with a time of 9.80.

Becca Worley (Townville, PA/Maplewood) started the year off on the right track by winning the 5000 run with a final time of 20:01.66.

Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area) finished in first place in the 3000 run with a time of 10:51.95. Riley Crissman (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area) and Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) followed in second and third with times of 11:06.09 and 11:29.05, respectively.

Yenchik, Carlsson, Pell, and Loeffler qualified Behrend's "A" team for ECAC's in the 800 relay after finishing in first place at 1:50.37.

Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) qualified for ECACs in pole vault as she finished second with a height of 3.35m (10'11.75"). Gabriella Loeffler (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) placed third in pole vault at 3.05m (10'0"). Yenchik finished in 11th in the 200m run with a time of 28.58.

Jenna Shelton (Cabot, PA/Knoch) ran a time of 5:31.73 in the mile run to earn second place while Ashley Beckwith (Findley Lake, NY/Clymer Central) placed third in the triple jump recording a distance of 9.91m (32'6.25").

Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch) placed third in the 500 dash with a final time of 1:26.20. She continued her day to finish seventh in the long jump with a height of 15'8.25".

The Lions will be back in action when they compete at SPIRE on January 20, 2018 beginning at 10 a.m.
