Women’s Track and Field Run as Gator Invite

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team ran at the Gator Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Myeisha Sanders (Erie, PA/East) had herself a day in the field. She qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships with a personal-best throw of 36.67 meters in the hammer, earning 10th. Then in the discus, she posted another personal-best mark of 38.27 meters for a fifth-place finish.

In the 3000m steeplechase, Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) tallied second-place, crossing the finish line at 12:10.44.

Haley Yenchik (Cecil, PA/Canon McMillan) and Gabriella Loeffler (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) took second and sixth in the pole vault, respectively. Yenchik leaped at a height of 3.47 meters, while Loeffler came in at 3.02 meters.

In the 800 meter run, Jenna Shelton (Cabot, PA/Knoch) punched her ticket to the ECACs with time of 2:22.45, taking eighth.

In the 400 meter hurdles, Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) took third-place with a time of 1:04.79. Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch) competed in the 100 meter dash, crossing the finish line in sixth with a time of 13.16. Carlsson also took fifth in the 200 meter run with a final time of 27.43.

The Lions are back in action Monday when they travel to Swarthmore. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m.
