Women's Track and Field Opens Season Placing in the Top-10 in Five Events

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team kicked off the 2021-22 season at the Toy Drive Invite hosted by Mount Union on Saturday, placing first in one event and placing in the Top-10 in five.

Key Moments:
* Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) crossed before all others in the one mile, finishing at 5:38.78
* Nola also earned fifth place in the 5000m
* Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LaBeouf) ran to a 1:04.64 finish in the 400m dash, placing seventh
* Four Lions found themselves in the Top-10 at the conclusion of the 800m run
* Emily Ferrans (Bradfordwoods, PA/North Allegheny) finished in fifth (2:37.43), Izzy Spires (Wattsburg, PA/Seneca) in seventh (2:47.02), Haley Felton (Midway, PA/Forth Cherry) in eighth (2:56.78) and Nikki Orton (Corry, PA/Corry Area) in 10th (3:02.48)
* Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) had Behrend's best finish in field events, earning fifth place with a 3.07m pole vault
* Maria Campbell (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) finished eighth in the pole vault with a 2.77m mark
