Women's Track and Field Competes in First Outdoor Meet of the Season

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field competed in their first outdoor meet of the year at Carnegie Mellon this weekend. There would be no team scores posted due to inclement weather.

Noteworthy:

* Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) checked in at second place in the 3000m, logging a time of 11:09.98
* Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) saw a tie for fourth place in the pole vault with a final mark of 2.90m
* Maria Campbell (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) resulted just behind Kappeler with a 2.75m final in the pole vault
* Shannon Burns (Jefferson, OH/Jefferson) tied for eighth in the high jump this weekend with a leap of 1.28m
* Burns was also 16th in the long jump with a final of 4.32m
* Brianna Downing (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) wrapped up the javelin throw with a toss of 26.71m, good enough for fifth this weekend
* Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) finished the 200m dash in 28.22, crossing in fifth
