Volleyball Downs Mounties in Season Finale

CRESSON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 win over Mt. Aloysius in their season and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) finale on Saturday.
The Lions (14-14, 4-5 AMCC) downed the Mounties (8-19, 1-8 AMCC) 29-27, 25-18 and 25-12, but missed making the AMCC playoffs for the first time in program history due to a tiebreaker with Pitt-Greensburg for the sixth spot.
Behrend needed the first set to warm up, going into extra points and then was able to win the next two sets for its fourth conference win .
Rachel Frye (Leechburg, PA/Kiski) led with 15 kills and Amanda Henry (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) add 11 kills. Paige Scurpa (Sharpsville, PA/Sharpsville) and Julie Pace (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) had double-digit digs with 16 and 12, respectively.
Setters Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) and Lexi Irwin (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) registered double-digit assists with 18 and 15, respectively, while Kylie McSwaney (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem) added six kills, three blocks and two aces.
