ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 season.
The Lions are one of 174 Division III teams who displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
The volleyball team garnered a GPA of 3.42 for the school year, yet the spring semester marked the sixth consecutive semester Behrend achieved a team GPA of 3.30 or higher.
In addition to the Lions, Pitt-Bradford and Mt. Aloysius also represent the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in receiving this award.
Behrend opens the 2018 season on Saturday, September 1 against SUNY Poly at the Morrisville Tournament.
