Irwin, Reiland Highlight Women's Volleyball All-AMCC Honors

ERIE, Pa. –  Senior setter Lexi Irwin (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) was named the 2018 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Co-Player of the Year, while freshman outside hitter Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria Academy) was selected Newcomer of the Year to headline the All-Conference team, announced on Tuesday.

Irwin was also chosen to the All-AMCC first team and Reiland earned second-team honors along with Amanda Henry (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette), while Alex Parra (Pittsburgh, PA/Bishop Canevin) was named to the third team.

Irwin is the sixth player in program history to earn Player of the Year honors. In nine conference games, she led with 298 assists and ranked second in assists per game (8.18), third in blocks (27) and hitting percentage (.380). Overall, Irwin was second in the AMCC with 872 assists and fifth with 60 blocks. She added 247 digs and 214 kills in 29 starts. Irwin tallied three triple-doubles this season to go with 13 double-doubles. She dished out a career-best 44 assists against Fredonia and managed 20 digs vs. Westminster.

Reiland is the eighth player in program history to be named Newcomer of the Year. The freshman led the AMCC in hitting percentage (.471) for nine matches. She was fifth in blocks (21), seventh in aces (14) and ninth in kills (88). Overall, she was second in the conference with a .304 hitting percentage, ninth with 215 kills and 10th in blocks (43). Reiland had double-digit kills in 11 matches, knocking down a season-best 16 against Mt. Aloysius during the regular season.

Henry and Parra are earning their first All-Conference accolades this season. Henry led the team with 270 kills and was second with 267 digs. She ranks second in the AMCC in aces (44) and is seventh in kills. She tallied double-digit digs and kills in 14 matches, while recorded seven double-doubles. Henry recorded 15 kills on four occasions and posted a season-best 17 digs against Westminster. Parra ranked first in blocks (45) and block assists (39) in AMCC matches. Overall, she was first on the team and in the AMCC with 107 blocks. She averaged 0.98 blocks per set and broke a single-season record for most block assists in a match with 11 at Pitt-Bradford. Parra also added 149 kills and 33 digs this season.
