ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 season.
The Lions are one of 175 Division III teams who displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
The volleyball team garnered a GPA of 3.57 for the school year, yet the spring semester marked the eighth consecutive semester Behrend achieved a team GPA of 3.30 or higher.
In addition to the Lions, Mt. Aloysius also represented the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in receiving this award.
Behrend opens the 2019 season on Friday, August 30 at D'Youville.
