ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team will host the 2019 Behrend Invitational in the Junker Center on Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7.

Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions went 2-1 in their opening weekend
* Behrend defeated D'Youville 3-0 on Friday night, before defeating SUNY Poly 3-0 and falling to Morrisville State, 3-2
* Head coach Phil Pisano hit 300 career wins with the women's team on Saturday against SUNY Poly
* Junior defensive specialist Madison Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) reached 1,000 career digs against the Spartans in the season opener
* Clapper only needed three digs to get to 1,000 and she registered seven on the night. She also recorded a career-high 45 digs vs. Morrisville State
* Senior middle hitter Alex Parra (Pittsburgh, PA/Bishop Canevin) tallied 29 kills and eight blocks over the weekend

Meet the Opposition:

* Westminster is undefeated with a 5-0 mark. The Titans went undefeated at the St. Vincent Tournament and then defeated Pitt-Greensburg in their home opener this week
* Mt. Union is 3-2 on the season. The Purple Raiders went 3-1 at their home invitational last weekend and then fell 3-1 to Hiram on Tuesday
* Bethany competed in the Case Western Reserve Spartan Invitational over the weekend. The Bison went 2-1 defeating Utica 3-0 and Kenyon 3-2 before falling to the hosts
* Defiance enters the weekend with a 3-2 record. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 10.25 kills per set
