Women's Water Polo Fall Twice on Final Day of Behrend Invitational

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team played two games to finish the Behrend Invitational Sunday afternoon.

The Lions (0-3) lost to La Salle (2-4) 12-8 and Mercyhurst (4-7) 15-1.

In game one, Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) gave Behrend an early 2-1 lead, scoring two straight goals to close out the first quarter. Four different Explorers recorded goals in the second quarter to regain the lead and taking a 5-3 lead into halftime.

Lauren Wood (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) registered her second goal of the game to open up the second half, but the Lions would go on to be outscored 3-1 by La Salle, looking at a four-goal deficit heading into the final eight minutes. Behrend scored four goals in the fourth quarter, putting together their best quarter yet. Unfortunately, they were unable to erase the Explorer lead.

Alison McClure (Loveland, OH/Milford) and Wood each tallied two goals in the game while Horn led with three.

Game two proved to be all Mercyhurst. The Lakers dominated the Lions, outshooting them 29-13 and and converting five goals on seven power plays.
