ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team competed in day one of the Behrend Invitational on Saturday.

Game 1
* In the first game, the Lions fell to Mercyhurst, 19-5
* Behrend came out strong, tying the game 1-1 midway through the first quarter before the Lakers went on a six goal run
* Mercyhurst scored five goals in less than three minutes in the second quarter to secure a 9-3 halftime lead
* The Lakers took off in the second half, scoring 10 more goals
* Remy De Guzman (Mission Viejo, CA / Trabuco Hills) and Clare Jefferys (Erie, PA/Villa Maria) each scored two goals, with De Guzman chipping in three drawn kickouts and Jefferys tallying one steal and one assist
* Alison McClure (Loveland, OH/Milford) finished the game with one steal, one assist, and three drawn kickouts
* Lauren Wood (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) had a game-high four steals and five drawn kickouts
Game 2
* Behrend played their second game on Saturday against Villanova falling 22-6
* The Lions fell behind 6-0 in the first quarter before they scored their first goal
* The Wildcats scored 14 goals in the first half and eight in the second half
* Wood led the team with four goals
* Barbie Cessar (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) and De Guzman each chipped in one goal
* Daniella Rios (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico / Sagrados Corazones), McClure, Cessar, and Wood tallied one steal each
