Lions Capture AMCC Title

JOHNSTOWN, Pa - The Penn State Behrend women's cross country team combined for a team score of 32 to win the AMCC Championship Sunday afternoon.

Depth has been an asset for the women this year and it showed today. Eight runners finished in the top 15 to help the Lions secure their fourth title in the last five years.

Franciscan came in behind Behrend with a score of 46. Medaille (126) edged Hilbert (130) for third place and D'Youville rounded out the top five with a score of 134. Mount Aloysius (141), Pitt-Greensburg (148) and La Roche (176) finished sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

Riley Crissman (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area) continued her strong freshman season today, finishing first for the Lions and third overall with a time of 25:55.30. She has led Behrend in all but one race this season. Caitlin Plazony (Fairview, PA/Fairview) added to her solid freshman campaign, finishing with a time of 26:11.69. She was second for the Lions and fourth overall. 

Rachel Ramsey, Rebecca Worley and Katelyn Hancock also finished in the top ten. Ramsey's 26:29.61 time put her sixth overall and third for Behrend. Worley and Hancock finished nineth and tenth with times of 26:58.65 and 27:03.31, respectively.

Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA / Elizabeth Forward) and Erica Koenig (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) took 11th, 14th and 15th, respectively.  

The Lions now has a few weeks off before they travel to Center Valley, PA for the Mid-East Regional Championships on November 12.
