Women's Cross Country Competes at Regionals

CENTER VALLEY, Pa - The Penn State Behrend women's cross country team combined for a team score of 663 to finish 22nd place out of 51 teams at the NCAA Mid-East Regional Meet hosted by DeSales.

Riley Crissman (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area), Caitlin Plazony (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) finished within five seconds of each other to help lead the Lions.

Crissman, the AMCC Runner of the Year, finished first for Behrend and 110th overall with a time of 24:28. She finishes her rookie season with first place finishes for the Lions in all but the first race of the season.

Plazony crossed the finish line just one second behind Crissman for a 111th overall finish. Four seconds later, Hancock finshed the race in the 116th spot and third for Behrend.

Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, PA/East Allegheny), The 2015 AMCC Runner of the Year, and Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) rounded out the top five. Ramsey crossed the finish in 157th place with a time of 25:06. Pell then finished in 25:16, good enough for 169th palce.

Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Cellegiate Academy) and Becca Worley (Townville, PA/Maplewood) finished sixth and seventh for the Lions, respectively. Their 25:26 and 26:20 times were good enough for 177th and 229th place.

Behrend finishes the year with four first place team finishes and AMCC Champions for the fourth time in the past five years.
