Five Selected AMCC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Five Penn State Behrend student-athletes were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week, announced Monday.

Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Ralph (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) was selected as Defensive Players of the Week after tallying three saves in the shut-out victory over Medaille, including a one handed break-away save . His eight shutouts this season have been instrumental in assisting the Lions sustain a perfect record in conference play and earn the first-place seed in the AMCC playoffs.

For the fourth time this season, freshman Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area) was selected as the women's cross country Runner of the Week after leading Penn State Behrend to a first-place finish and a perfect score at the AMCC Championship Saturday. Setting the pace for the Lions, she crossed the line at 23:23, marking the second-best time in AMCC Championship history.

Freshman Matthew Kuchcinski (North East, PA/North East) was named Diver of the Week for the men's swimming and diving team after earning second-place finishes on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards against Westminster on Saturday. On the one-meter, he had a score of 203.00 and on the three-meter he recorded a score of 206.65.

Noah Babik (Penn Township, PA/Penn Trafford) tabbed Swimmer of the Week honors for being the only swimmer to win a pair of individual events against Westminster on Saturday. He first won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.47) and then led the way in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.00). Babik also swam on the second-place 200 medley relay team (1:41.05).

On the women's side, Abigail Witmer (Herndon, VA/Herndon) earned Swimmer of the Week by leading the way for the Lions with three wins. She was the first-place finisher in the 100 backstroke (1:04.91) and the 200 backstroke (2:21.96), before swimming a leg on the winning 400 freestyle relay.
