Four Behrend Lions Tabbed AMCC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Four Penn State Behrend student-athletes picked up Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday following their outstanding play this past weekend.

Senior men's golfer Noah Kunst (Kittanning, PA/Kittanning) was the individual medalist on Saturday September 1 at the Pitt-Bradford Invitational.  Kunst led the entire field of 84 golfers with a round of 70, finishing two-under par for his first win of the season.  Kunst also led the Behrend Lions to a first place team finish.

Senior men's soccer goalkeeper Chris Ralph (Murraysville, PA/Franklin Regional) was tabbed as the AMCC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.  Ralph posted one shutout over the weekend and helped the Behrend Lions win the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament. Ralph totaled six saves and conceded just one goal in 200:00 minutes for PSB. Penn State Behrend posted a 1-0-1 record this past weekend defeating Houghton 2-1 on Friday and drawing with Geneseo 0-0 in 2OT. Ralph made a diving save in the 107th minute against Geneseo that helped preserve a draw for Behrend.

Senior volleyball setter Lexi Irwin (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) tallied a triple-double and a pair of double-doubles this past weekend for the Behrend Lions.  Irwin tallied a career-high 38 assists and added 10 kills against Oswego.  Against Morrisville State Irwin posted totals of 28 assists and 12 digs.  In a 3-0 win against Buffalo State on Saturday, Irwin contributed 22 assists and 13 kills.

Sophomore Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area) was named the AMCC Runner of the Week after her first place finish at the Westminster Invitational on Friday evening.  Carr led the entire field of 104 runners with an overall time of 23:40.66.  Carr placed a full 15 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in the event and helped Penn State Behrend place third as a team.
