ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend sophomore pitcher Derrick Shields (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and senior men's tennis player Kyle Thomas (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) were named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week.

Shields earned AMCC Pitcher of the Week for throwing a three-hit complete game shutout in the opener against Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday. He fanned eight batters and walked one to register his third win of the season.

Thomas, the men's tennis AMCC Player of the Week, helped the Lions secure the No. 3 seed for the upcoming AMCC playoffs with a 7-2 win over Altoona on Saturday. He collected a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles and posted an 8-2 decision at No. 1 doubles
