Behrend Athletics Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2022

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend will induct nine individuals into the College's Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Arica Christman '12, Ashley Gruber '12, Adam Kaiser '10, Geoff Lang '11, Anne (Lawrence) Sekulski '12, Tom Lulich '05, Ronson Mazany '11, Aaron Meehl '12, and Kate Monoskey '12 are the individuals to be recognized.

In addition, the nine 10-year anniversary AMCC Championship teams will be honored along with five 25th anniversary AMCC Championship teams and one ECAC Championship team.

Arica Christman '12 (Sharon, PA/Sharon)

Christman is the first and only four-time AMCC Women's Tennis Player of the Year in conference history. She led the Behrend Lions from 2008-12, helping secure four consecutive AMCC Championships. Christman was also four-time AMCC Champion at No. 1 singles and three-time AMCC Champion at No. 1 doubles.  She was named to the All-AMCC first team four consecutive seasons and was voted Team MVP all four years.

Ashley Gruber '12 (Burton, OH/Berkshire)

Gruber, the current head coach of the Penn State Behrend softball team, was a three-time All-Conference selection and two-time Team MVP from 2008-12. Her final season she led the team in hits (55), doubles (16), home runs (9), RBIs (50) and batting average (.430) while being named AMCC Co-Player of the Year. Gruber hit a walk-off home run in the AMCC Championship game to help the Lions reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009. She broke the program's doubles record and is second all-time in home runs and assists and is third in RBIs. Gruber also received the Team Scholarship/Leadership Award and the AMCC Spring Sportsmanship Award her junior year.

Adam Kaiser '10 (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep)

Kaiser was a long-range shooter for the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team from 2006-2010. He helped the Lions to an AMCC Championship, an ECAC Championship, and a NCAA Tournament appearance. Kaiser led the team in scoring and three-pointers made his junior year, earning First Team All-Conference. He finished first in career three-pointers with 246, including third-most in a season with 88 in 2008-09. Kaiser hit the 1,000-point plateau for his career, ranking 22nd all-time.

Geoff Lang '11 (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny)

Lang was instrumental in clinching three AMCC Championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances for Behrend baseball team from 2008-11. The three-time All-AMCC selection was also chosen a "Player to Watch" by Collegiate Baseball. His senior year, he was second on the team in hits, RBIs and stolen bases while helping the Lions make an appearance in the ECAC Tournament. Lang finished his career ranked second all-time in stolen bases, sixth in at-bats, seventh in hits and slugging percentage.

Anne (Lawrence) Sekulski '12 (State College, PA/State College)

Lawrence was one of the most decorated athletes at Penn State Behrend in swimming and water polo from 2008-12. She was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2012, along with earning NCAA All-American honors in water polo her senior year. She was captain of the Behrend women's swimming and diving team in 2011 and captained the water polo team in 2012. Lawrence was also named AMCC Swimmer of the Year in 2010 and 2011, and captured MVP honors twice (2011-2012). She earned the water polo leadership award in 2012 and was Newcomer of the Year in 2009.

Tom Lulich '05 (Canonsburg, PA/Peters Township)

Lulich is regarded as one of the best two-way players in Penn State Behrend men's basketball history. He led the Lions to post-season play in each year from 2001-05. Lulich was instrumental in helping Behrend capture its second AMCC Championship his senior year. That year, he was second on the team in scoring with 11.5 points per game and first in three pointers with 64. Lulich was a two-time AMCC Honorable Mention and finished fourth all-time in career three-pointers with 185.

Ronson Mazany '11 (Ashville, NY/Panama Central)

Mazany was a four-event track and field athlete for Penn State Behrend from 2007-11. He set three school records - indoor triple jump, outdoor and indoor long jumps. Mazany was a four-time All-Conference selection in the long jump, triple jump and high jump while earning All-Mason Dixon three times in the javelin. Mazany was an ECAC Qualifier and an All-ECAC choice, and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships. His senior year, he was ranked 18th in the nation indoors in the long jump. Mazany earned Team MVP four seasons in a row and helped the Lions post their highest finish at the Mason Dixon Championships.

Aaron Meehl '12 (North East, PA/North East)

Meehl was a three-time All-Region and three-time All-AMCC player for the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team from 2008-12. He scored 22 goals and dished out 13 assists for 57 points in his career. His sophomore year, he registered a goal and an assist to help the Lions capture the ECAC Championship. Meehl was an All-AMCC first-team choice his junior and senior year, landing on the All-Great Lakes Region Team and Scholar All-East Region Team. He led Behrend to the AMCC Title his senior year and earned the PSB Male Athlete of the Year.

Kate Monoskey '12 (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney)

Monoskey set four school records and was a two-time Athlete of the Year for the Penn State Behrend women's track and field team from 2008-12. She was a 10-time Mason Dixon All-Conference performer and a two-time Conference Champion. Monoskey was a two-time Rookie of the Year, two-time Team MVP while earning Mason Dixon Field Athlete of the Year in 2011 and the Behrend Academic Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2012. At graduation, she held school records in the weight throw, indoor shot put, discus and hammer throw.
