Behrend Bowling Opens Medaille Invite With Win Over Mavericks

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend women's bowling team opened the Medaille Invite on Saturday going 1-4 on day one with their lone win over the No. 1 seed in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), the Medaille Mavericks. Day one consisted of five games in traditional format.

* The Lions bowled their best game of the season in the opening match against the defending AMCC Champions, tallying a total pinfall of 1008
* Reegan Malis (Butler, PA/Butler) recorded the second-highest score on the day of all participants, rolling a 266 in the win
* Bella Pilyih (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler Area) also eclipsed 200 pins, knocking down 202 for her single-game high on Saturday
* Abigail Lanker (Sunbury, OH/Worthington Christian), Ashley Debich (Leechburg, PA/Kiski Area) and Natalie Denny (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) each chipped in to the milestone performance, finishing with a 190, 189 and 161, respectively
* Debich had her highest pinfall in game two with a mark of 194
* Malis finished sixth in a field of 49 on day one with an average of 192.8
* Pilyih concluded with first-day average of 176.2
