Sada, Myers Named Google Cloud Academic All-District

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend baseball seniors Phil Myers (DuBois, PA/DuBois Central Catholic) and Scott Sada (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) have been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District 4 First Team, selected by CoSIDA.

Sada is earning his second straight All-District honors, while Myers was chosen for the first time in his career. The All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.

Sada, a plastics engineering technology major, has held a 3.76 GPA throughout his collegiate career. The short stop, went on to earn Google Cloud Academic All-American honors last season. Sada, the 2019 Behrend Male Athlete of the Year is also a four-time Academic All-AMCC selection and two-time Chi Alpha Sigma member. He is a three-time All-Region and All-Conference choice. This season, Sada broke the NCAA Division III record for career doubles and needs six more to set the Division I record. He leads the team in hits, runs, doubles and stolen bases. Sada is six hits away from breaking the program record in career hits set at 264.    

Myers, a nursing major, was recently named the Penn State Behrend Male Scholar Athlete of the Year for having the highest student-athlete GPA at 3.92. He is a four-time Academic All-AMCC selection and a two-year member of Chi Alpha Sigma. Myers is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Student Nursing Association of Pennsylvania. The starting hurler is undefeated on the season with a 7-0 record, recently pitching his fourth complete game in the AMCC Championships on Thursday. He is second in the AMCC in ERA (2.42) and is tied for first with seven wins. This season, Myers reached 150 strikeouts for his career.
