ERIE, Pa. – On Thursday, May 12, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) named Zack Bowen (Pittsburgh, PA/Serra Catholic) a selection to the 2022 Academic All-District baseball team as an infielder. Each honoree demonstrates excellence both on the field and in the classroom as Bowen clinches the first team with a grade-point average of 3.69 while studying computer engineering.

Bowen was named to the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society this past month and has been a key contributor for the Penn State Behrend baseball team, helping the Lions to their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Regular-Season Title since 2013. The senior middle-infielder compiled a .372 batting average with a team-high 52 hits during the regular season. Bowen was a run-producing machine, scoring 51 and driving in 31.

The first-team selection gives him a bid at CoSIDA Academic All-American status as he heads to the ballot with the recipients being announced in June.
