Lions Conclude Regular Season With Sweep; Claim First Seed In Conference Tournament
The Penn State Behrend baseball team concluded regular season play with an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) doubleheader sweep of Mount Aloysius to claim the first seed in the conference tournament next week.

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team concluded regular season play with an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) doubleheader sweep of Mount Aloysius to claim the first seed in the conference tournament next week. Prior to game one, seniors Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township), Chase Palmer (Brookville, PA/Brookville), Daniel Boehme (Peters Township, PA/Seton LaSalle), Evan Bromley (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park), and Joe Lang (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) were recognized.
Game One: Penn State Behrend 9, Mount Aloysius 4
Records: Penn State Behrend (26-9, 10-3 AMCC), Mount Aloysius (27-11, 7-6 AMCC)
Key Moments:
* Mount Aloysius struck first with three runs on three hits in the bottom of the third
* Back-to-back RBI singles from Ryan Bushey and Brandon Cook and a fielder's choice RBI by Tyler Quade got the Mounties on the board
* Behrend responded with three runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning with the big blow being a two-run home run off the bat of Palmer
* The Lions took a four-run lead in the bottom of the fourth (7-3), thanks to runs batted in by Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum), Dylan Barnes (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills), and Ciocco
* Quade cut the Mounties deficit to three (7-4) in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice fly
* A Hank Shaffer (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) RBI double and Thomas Nicely (Delmont, PA/Franklin Regional) sac fly in the fifth and sixth innings helped secure the game on win for Behrend
* Sophomore Jake Manendo (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) earned his first win of the season out of the bullpen, tossing 3.1 innings to go along with two hits, two strikeouts, and one earned run
* Ionadi, Ciocco, and Cayden Turner (Stoystown, PA/North Star) all notched a team-high two hits, while Palmer drove in a game-high two RBIs
* For Mount Aloysius, Cook led in game one with two hits
Game Two: Penn State Behrend 6, Mount Aloysius 1
Records: Penn State Behrend (27-9, 11-3 AMCC), Mount Aloysius (27-12, 7-7 AMCC)
Key Moments:
* The Lions broke the game open with five runs on seven hits in the second inning
* It started with a two-run double from Ionadi, followed by fielder's choice RBI from Ciocco, and then was capped off by a pair of RBI singles by Boehme and Turner
* This was enough for Behrend pitchers Andrew Bredel (Clinton, PA/Burgettstown) and Jack Baumgartel (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) who worked a combined five scoreless innings and only allowed one hit with four strikeouts
* Mount Aloysius found the scoreboard with an RBI double from Cole Harkness in the top of the sixth, but the Lions third reliever of the game Bromley got out of the jam by giving up only the one run
* The Lions got the run back in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to a sacrifice fly off the bat of Nicely
* Lang and Ethan Tinker (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) secured the doubleheader sweep with scoreless seventh, eighth, and ninth innings
* Five Behrend pitchers threw in game two, only allowing two hits with a combined 11 strikeouts
* At the plate, Barnes went 3-for-5 for the Lions
