Men's Basketball Picked AMCC Preseason Favorites

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend 2016 men's basketball team was selected to finish in the top spot in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) coaches' preseason poll, announced on Monday.

The Lions finished as the AMCC regular-season champions last season, before falling to Hilbert in the conference semifinals. The ended with a 23-4 overall record and a remarkable 17-1 mark in conference play.

Senior Zane Hackett (Brookville, PA/Brookville) and junior Malquan Pullium (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) are listed as players to watch in the AMCC this season.

Hackett was a First-Team All-Conference selection last year and led the team with 15.7 points per game and was ranked 24th in the nation, shooting 59.2% from the floor. He brought down 6.7 rebounds per game and led the team with 23 double-digit scoring performances.

Pullium averaged 8.3 points per game on 39.3% shooting. He averaged 29.2% from behind the arc and dished out 1.6 assists per game. Pullium was second on the team with 1.7 steals per game.

Behrend will open their season Wednesday, November 18 at Thiel. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
