Men’s Basketball Opens Season against Carnegie Mellon Saturday

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team will open the 2018-19 season at home against Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, November 17, at 5 pm in the Junker Center.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes

* Penn State Behrend was tabbed as preseason favorites to win the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference this season in a preseason coaches poll released earlier this month.
* Last year, PSB went 21-8, 14-4 AMCC and advanced to the ECAC Tournament.
* Penn State Behrend received 26 votes in the D3Hoops.com Preseason Top 25 Poll that came out last month.
* Head Coach Dave Niland, who is in his 25th season at the helm of the men's basketball program, has an experience starting core returning this season.
* All-conference performers Andy Niland, Justin Gorny, and Dan Wanker will lead Penn State Behrend this coming winter.
* Seniors Mike Fischer and Malike Brinson will also provide veteran support on both ends of the floor this season.
* A year ago, PSB led all of Division III in scoring defense, allowing just 60.8 points per game.

Carnegie Mellon News & Notes

* The Tartans are members of the University Athletic Association (UAA).
* CMU opened the season on Tuesday, November 13, against Chatham.  The Tartans lost the Cougars 88-70
* Seth Henry posted a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds in Carnegie Mellon's season opener.
* A season ago, CMU went 7-18, 3-11 UAA.

Series History:

* Penn State Behrend is 8-3 all-time against Carnegie Mellon.
* Behrend has won six straight in the series dating to the 2011-12 season.
* Last year, PSB topped the Tartans 81-75.
