Connors, Fukon Earn AMCC Honors

ERIE, Pa. – Senior Dorian Connors (Girard, PA/Girard) was named the 2020 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Defensive Player of the Year, while junior Kenny Fukon (Cranberry, PA/Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic) was named to the All-AMCC first team, announced on Tuesday. 

Fukon is making his first appearance on the All-Conference team, while Connors is receiving his first recognition with a major award. Fukon led the team in scoring and ranked fifth overall in the AMCC with 16.6 points per game. He leads in minutes per game (35.2), while ranking third in field goals (165). Fukon also dished out 80 assists and made 36 steals for seventh in the league. He led the team in scoring in 15 games this season and registered seven 20+ point games. Fukon posted a career-high 26 points against Franciscan and tallied a pair of double-doubles. The junior also averaged 6.5 rebounds per game, good enough for 13th in the AMCC.

Connors earned Defensive Player of the Year for helping the Lions rank 13th in NCAA Division III statistics for scoring defense (63.9). Individually, the senior ranks 19th in the nation in blocks per game (2.25) and is first in the AMCC. He registered a block in all but the last four games of the season. Connors posted a career-high six blocks at Altoona. He has led the team in rebounding in 12 games and ranks 11th in the conference in rebounds per game (6.6).

The Lions season continues with their 18th appearance at the ECAC Tournament, beginning on Wednesday against Westminster at home. Game time is 7 p.m.
