Men's Soccer Blank Hiram 4-0

ERIE, Pa. – Four different players tallied goals for the men's soccer team on Sunday evening against Hiram, generating the largest offensive output of the year thus far.

The Lions (3-1) defeated the Terriers (1-4) with a score of 4-0, registering every goal in the first half to help to keep an undefeated record on their home turf.

Junior captain Nick Mckee (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) struck first for Behrend, rifling a volley into the top corner of the net. Less than five minutes later, Richard Blanchard (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) notched his first career goal off a corner from Matt Dziadosz (Leechburg, PA/Kiski Area).

At the 29:38 mark, Dziadosz added to the total by burying a goal of an assist from James Young (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional), making that three straight games with a goal.

As halftime was winding down, freshman Christian Eckberg (Norwin, PA/Norwin) slotted a pass to Shuya Takehana (Nagano, Japan/Matsusho Gakuen) who finished a one-touch shot in the side of the net, recording his first goal of the season.

Hiram had a good scoring chance late in the second half when Keegan Williams (Tallmadge, OH/Tallmadge) drilled the post off a free kick. The Lions young defensive line held strong though, earning their third clean sheet of the season.

The Lions are back in action this Wednesday when they head to Bethany at 4:30 p.m.
