ERIE, Pa. – Head men's and women's tennis coach Jeff Barger was honored with the 2017 USTA Middle States Allegheny Mountain District Award.
Barger will be entering his 21st season with the Lions in the fall. He has led the women's tennis team to 13 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) crowns, including nine in the last 11 seasons with a stretch of winning seven straight (2004-11). In 2017, Barger reached 400 career wins and 200 conference wins combined for both the men's and women's program. On the men's side, he has mentored the Lions to five AMCC titles.
Barger has been voted the AMCC Coach of the Year a combined 15 times and is the all-time leader in men's and women's coaching victories. His women's tennis winning percentage is impressive at 67 percent and ranks first in the Behrend record books.
