MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny softball team won a pair against Penn State Behrend 4-2 and 4-3 in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
Game One: Allegheny 4, Penn State Behrend 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (13-16), Allegheny (21-14)
Key Moments:
* The Gators erased a one-run deficit with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge the Lions
* The game started with four scoreless innings
* Allegheny got one run on three hits in the fifth inning, leaving two stranded but getting the 1-0 lead
* In the top of the sixth, Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Lakeview) got on base with a walk and Karma Malcolm (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) was hit by a pitch to get two runners on
* Athena Iverson (Pittsburgh, PA/The Ellis School) moved the runners with a sacrifice bunt
* Williams and Malcolm scored on a failed pickoff attempt to take a 2-1 advantage
* The Gators had three extra-base hits in the bottom of the frame, including a home run and two doubles to regain the lead at 4-2
* Allegheny managed to get the final three outs in the seventh for the two-run win
* Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) went 2-for-3 with a double
* Pitcher Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) struck out four and walked two, while allowing six hits in six innings to fall to 6-9 overall this season
Game Two: Allegheny 4, Penn State Behrend 3

Key Moments:
* Allegheny completed the sweep with another four runs, including three in the first inning that gave the Gators the lead for good
* The Lions scored single runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings
* With two outs in the second, Iverson singled and Edgett knocked her in with a hit to right field to get on the board
* The run in the fifth put Behrend within one thanks to a double by McNany to score Chole Nale (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell)
* Allegheny got the eventual game-winning double by S. Genareo to score A Tomkowski for the game-winning run
* In the sixth, Lexi Edgett (Frisco, TX/Lone Star) registered her third double of the season to score Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) to attempt the comeback with one inning left
* Lauren Rabanal (San Diego, CA/Westview) started in the circle, giving up two earned runs out of four and fanning one
* Petitte, Iverson and Edgett had two hits apiece
