Swimmers Down Penn State Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving defeated Penn State Altoona 131-75 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions won their third straight dual meet with a convincing finish over the Altoona Lions.

Lacey Grinnen (Warren, PA/Warren) was the first individual winner, touching the wall in 12:08.82 in the 1000 freestyle. Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) followed with a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:03.15), while Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) won the 100 backstroke (1:04.58).

Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) won a pair of events, starting with the 50 free (26.26) and then the 500 freestyle (5:49.96). Lowery also got gold in the 100 freestyle (56.17) and the 200 IM (2:17.79).

Abigail Witmer (Herndon, VA/Herndon) paced Behrend in the 200 backstroke, winning in 2:20.20.

Horn, Witmer, Lowery and Wyckoff made up the team that won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.78.

The Lions return to action on Friday against Malone. Meet starts at 5 p.m.
