Women's Swimming All-Conference Honors Released

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team had nine student athletes honored with 29 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) accolades, announced on Thursday.

The Lions are coming off a second-place finish at the 2020 AMCC Championships last week, earning eight first-team honors and 21 second-team accolades. Marcella Puglia (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk), the 2019 AMCC Newcomer of the Year, returned this year to lead the team with four first-team honors and three second team. She was the repeat champion in the 500 free, 1650 free and in the 800 freestyle relay. Puglia reset her AMCC Meet and Open Records in the 1650 she broke last season with a time of 18:08.07.

Barbie Cessar (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) earned five all-conference honors for Behrend. She was the individual champion in the 200 breaststroke and finished second in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, while swimming on two second-place relays.
