Track and Field Heads to Grove City This Week

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend track and field team travels to Grove City, PA on Wednesday and Thursday for the PAC Invitational.

Behrend News & Notes

* The Lions most recently competed at the CSAC Championship at Keystone College on Saturday
* The men's team won the championship with a score of 342 and the women's team place second scoring 139
* Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area) was named the Women's CSAC Track Athlete of the Year
* Carr won the 1500m and 5000m runs and finished second in the 800m run
* On the men's side, Phoenix Myers (Erie, PA/Seneca) earned CSAC Track Athlete of the Year and Matt Michael (Erie, PA/Iroquois) was named Field Athlete of the Year
* Myers competed in three events, winning all three. He won the 3000m steeplechase (9:53.19), the 1500m run (4:07.60), and the 5000m run (15:47.10)
* Michael threw the shot put, discus, hammer throw, and javelin. He took home the gold in the shot put throwing 14.80m
* Michael also finished third in the discus (38.72m), hammer throw (43.75m), and the javelin (33.22m)
* Behrend is looking to reach qualifying marks before the All-Atlantic Championship on May 19-20
