Kappeler Wins Pole Vault; Women's Indoor T&F Competes at Houghton

HOUGHTON, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's indoor track & field team returned to the Kerr-Pegula Field House and Houghton for the Highlander Invite on Saturday.

Key Moments:

* Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) won the pole vault for the Lions, reaching a height of 9-10
* Kappeler was also fourth in the long jump (15-5 ½) on the day
* Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin) finished third in the 3000m (10:46.01) and helped the 4x400m relay take second
* Carr joined Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Victoria Dieterich (Oakmont, PA/Riverview) for a time of 4:30.62
* Laffan also registered a third-place finish in the 200m (28.46) and fourth-place finish in the 400m (1:03.80)
* Shannon Burns (Jefferson, OH/Jefferson) paced the Lions in the high jump, taking third in 4-6 ¼
* In the pole vault following Kappeler was Noelani Takei (Fremont, CA/Irvington) in fourth (8-10 ¼) and Grace Jones (Union City, PA/Union City) in fifth (8-14 ¼)
* In the shot put, Paige Massey (Erie, PA/McDowell) took fifth (31-4 ¾)
* Haley Felton (Midway, PA/Fort Cherry) had the fastest time for Behrend in the 60m, placing seventh in 10.95
