Behrend Volleyball Travels Opening Weekend

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team will hit the road for three matches to begin the 2019 season. The Lions will travel to Buffalo, NY to take on the D'Youville Spartans in the season opener and then face SUNY Poly and Morrisville State at the Morrisville State Tournament on Saturday. 

Weekend Schedule and Live Coverage:

Penn State Behrend vs. D'Youville – Friday, August 30 – 7 p.m. (Live Stats)
Penn State Behrend vs. SUNY Poly – Saturday, August 31 – 12 p.m.
Penn State Behrend at Morrisville State – Saturday, August 31 – 2 p.m.

Behrend News & Notes:

* Head Coach Phil Pisano begins his 16th year with the Lions. He sits on 298 career wins and needs a pair of victories to reach the 300 mark. 
* The Lions finished last season with a 20-11 overall record
* Behrend were runners up at the AMCC Championships and advanced to the ECAC Tournament
* The Lions return nine veterans and welcome five new faces to the squad
* Behrend was picked to tie for first along with Pitt-Bradford in the AMCC preseason coaches poll

Meet the Opposition:

* D'Youville was picked to finish seventh in the AMCC preseason coach poll. The Spartans finished 4-22 overall last season. Behrend posted a 3-0 win over D'Youville last year.
* SUNY Poly tallied a 14-17 overall record in 2018 and finished fifth in the NEAC standings. The Wildcats fell to Behrend last season 3-0 in the Morrisville State Tournament.
* Morrisville State won their second straight NEAC Championship last season and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Mustangs finished the year 25-7 overall. Morrisville State defeated the Lions 3-1 last season at this tournament.
