ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria Academy) was named the 2019 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Co-Player of the Year and head coach Phil Pisano garnered Coach of the Year honors, highlighting the All-Conference awards announced on Wednesday.
Reiland, the 2018 Newcomer of the Year, earned the program's third straight and fifth overall Player of the Year accolades. Pisano, who guided the team to their fifth AMCC title and fourth NCAA Tournament appearance, has now been named Coach of the Year six times in his 16 seasons with the Lions.
Reiland also landed on the All-AMCC first team along with junior libero Madison Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg). Senior middle hitter Alex Parra (Pittsburgh, PA/Bishop Canevin) was selected to the second team, while sophomore setter Dani Kosslow (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) and junior outside hitter Keely Hering (North East, PA/North East) were chosen to the third team.
Reiland is a two-time All-Conference selection, earning second-team honors a year ago. She ranks second in the AMCC in service aces (51), third in kills (304), fourth in kills and points per set with 2.95 and 3.7, respectively. She posted eight double-doubles this season, registering a season-best 21 digs vs. Pitt-Greenburg and 16 kills against Penn State Altoona in the AMCC semifinals. Reiland has 18 double-digit kills matches and hit .230 for the season. She tallied a season-high six aces against Hilbert.
Clapper is receiving her first All-AMCC accolades this season. The junior libero led the AMCC all season long in digs and digs per set. Clapper has 565 digs to date for a 5.59 average. Clapper registered double-digit digs in 25 of the 29 matches played so far this season. She tallied a career-high 45 digs against Morrisville State and served up six aces against SUNY Poly.
Parra was the lone Behrend player named to the second team. She collected third-team honors a year ago. The senior middle hitter ranks second in the AMCC in total blocks with 89 and is second in blocks per set with (0.88). Parra also has third most kills on the team with 216 for a 2.14 average per set. She recorded double-digit kills in eight matches, posting a career-high 15 kills against Penn State Altoona. Parra tallied five blocks in seven contests and earned a season-high nine stops against Lebanon Valley.
Kosslow and Hering were selected to the third team for their first All-AMCC honors. Kosslow, in her first season in the setter position, collected 713 assists for a 7.13 average to rank fourth in the AMCC. She led the team and conference in service aces with 77. Kosslow recorded a career-high eight service aces against Medaille. She also posted five double-doubles, including a career-high 48 assists to go with 13 digs. Kosslow tallied a career-high 18 digs in a 3-1 win over Allegheny.
Hering ranked second on the team and sixth in the conference with 242 kills this season. She also posted 272 digs, good enough for second on the team, 25 blocks and 19 aces. Hering tallied six double-doubles this season thanks to double-digit kills in 10 matches and double-digit digs in 12 contests. She played in every match and all but one set the entire season.
