Five Named AMCC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend senior defensive specialist Cara Zollars (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair), junior defender Angela Belack (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair), senior midfielder Cameron Eckberg (Westmoreland City, PA/Norwin), junior goalkeeper Sam York (Akron, OH/Revere) and freshman runner Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) were all named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week.

Zollars registered 47 digs (4.70 average), six assists and five aces in a 4-0 weekend for the women's volleyball team. Zollars posted double-digit digs in three of the four matches to start the season, including a team-best 20 digs in a 3-0 win over Thiel in the opener on Wednesday. She also helped the Lions to go undefeated at the Alfred Saxon Classic and not give up a set in all four matches this week.

Belack as instrumental in the women's soccer 3-0 start to the season, including a pair of shutouts in the first two games. She started in the back all three contests, netting her first collegiate goal (the game-winner) in a 3-0 win vs. Allegheny to open the season. Over the weekend, Belack helped the Behrend defense hold Baldwin Wallace to three shots and Wooster just four to capture the HLM Tournament title.

Eckberg was named the MVP of the annual Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament after helping the men's soccer team claim the HLM Title. He scored a pair of goals in the first round against Morrisville and then tallied an assist in the championship game for a total of five points over the weekend.

York went 2-1 this week with nine saves, including one on a penalty kick in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Championship game on Sunday. He posted a 6-0 shutout with two saves vs. Morrisville and then made five stops in his second win of the season in the HLM Title game.

Nola competed at the Houghton Invitational for the women's cross country team over the weekend. She took first on the team and 13th overall in her first collegiate meet, crossing the finish line with a team-best time of 16:16.09.
