Three Named AMCC Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend graduate student Maddie Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg),  senior Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria Academy), and junior Karla Ochoa (Pharr, TX/IDEA Toros College Preparatory) have been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week.

Clapper, the women's volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, is earning the honor for a third time this season. The libero tallied double-digit digs in a pair of AMCC wins. She averaged 5.83 digs per set, registering 14 in a 3-0 win over Bradford and contributing 21 in a sweep of Altoona on Saturday. Clapper is seven digs away from moving into second place on the programs all-time chart.

Reiland, the women's volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, is earning the honor for a second time this year. The middle hitter led the Lions to a pair of key AMCC victories, both in three sets to stay in front of the conference standings. The senior had a pair of double-doubles, including 13 kills and a career-high 24 digs against Altoona on Saturday. Reiland had a match-high 13 kills and 11 digs at Bradford on Wednesday in the AMCC Match of the Week. She also added nine blocks and hit .500, committing just one error.

Ochoa, the women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week, is receiving this honor for the first time this season. The midfielder tallied three goals and one assist for seven points this week. Ochoa scored on both shots taken on goal against Altoona on Saturday in the AMCC Game of the Week. She also assisted on the game-winner vs. the Lions. Behrend held a 15-0 advantage in goals in a pair of conference wins.
