David Koster (1994-97) excelled as a member of the Behrend Lions golf team under the leadership of late Hall of Fame Coach Herb Lauffer.

Koster, a Harborcreek High School graduate, had a passion for the game of golf. Nobody got in more rounds of practice each year than Koster. He wanted to be a high-quality player and worked hard to achieve his craft. In 1994, Koster became the golf program’s first-ever ECAC qualifier and competed at Saratoga Springs, New York. A year later he finished seventh in the City Championship.

Koster, who won the Edinboro University Fall Invitational at Riverside after carding a round of 71 which included a hole-in-one, also captured individual medalist titles at Pitt-Bradford and Washington and Jefferson.

Koster, the 1997 Behrend Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, is only the third golfer in seventeen years to be enshrined into the Penn State Behrend Athletic Hall of Fame.
