Lara (Herrmann) Kauffman (1995-97) has been instrumental in the great success of the Penn State Behrend women’s soccer program.

During Kauffman’s three seasons in uniform, she guided the blue and white to an impressive 35-15 mark during its first three years of varsity competition. Playing for Head Coach Dan Perritano, she led the offensive attack from the midfield by scoring points and distributing the ball.

Kauffman’s numbers on the all-time leader board are superior. When her career concluded, her name was permanently etched into the record books. She was the program’s all-time leader in career points with 52, and goals with 22. Kauffman ranked second for single-season points with 22 and goals with 10, while also ranking on the assists column. 

In her final season of play, Kauffman led the Behrend Lions to the first-ever AMCC Soccer Championship in 1997, while also earning all-conference honors. In addition, the McDowell High School product, was named Behrend’s Female Athlete of the Year as Behrend advanced to the ECAC Tournament.
