Penn State Behrend senior baseball players Josh Fyffe (Fredonia/Sharpsville) and Dustin Dubensky (Punxsutawney/Punxsutawney) were recently named to the 2010 ABCA All-Region Team.  Fyffe was selected to the First Team while Dubensky was picked for the Third Team.

Fyffe had a monster senior season that capped off a brilliant career.  This season, he had a batting average of .478 (fourth best all-time) and his 87 hits and 68 runs scored are a Behrend single season record.  He recorded 14 doubles, eight triples and knocked out 10 home runs.  He was second to Dubensky in RBI with 60 and led the team in total bases with 147.  The shortstop slugged at a .808 mark and was tied for the team led in stolen bases with 16.  Over four years, Fyffe has been regarded as one of the best to ever come through the program and his numbers do not lie.  He was named AMCC Newcomer of the Year in his first year along with his streak of four straight selections to the AMCC All-Conference Team.  In Fyffe's junior season, he was named the conference Player of the Year as well as the ECAC Southern Region Player of the Year.  He followed his junior season with another dominant season as a senior in which he was once again named the AMCC Player of the Year.

Fyffe has supplanted himself in the record books for years to come and it will take a special player to repeat the kind of career he had.  He ranks first all-time in Behrend baseball history in hits (264), at-bats (650) and games played (174).  His 22 career home runs is second all-time and his RBI (175), runs scored (184), doubles (46) and a career average of .406 also puts him second in history.  His 14 triples and 63 stolen bases rank him third all-time and he had an impressive streak of being named to the ABCA Rawlings Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team for three straight years.

Dubensky was a force in his senior season which also capped off one of the best careers in Behrend baseball history.  The third baseman hit .386 in 2010 with a team-leading and single season record of 68 RBI.  His 18 doubles put him first on the team and his 23 doubles in 2008 still remains as a single season record for the Behrend Lions.  Dubensky recorded 64 hits this season and his career hit mark of 185 ranks him fourth all-time.  Maybe more impressive than his work on the field might be his work off as he was named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 Baseball Team.  Dubensky was a plastics engineering major and carried a 3.68 GPA.  He was named to the AMCC All-Conference Team three straight years and was a leader from the day he stepped on campus.
