Penn State Behrend senior shortstop Josh Fyffe was named a D3baseball.com First-Team All-American. Fyffe's Behrend career recently concluded after he lead the blue and white to its third straight AMCC Championship and a 2-2 mark at the NCAA Mideast Regional in late May.

Accolades continue to roll in for the program's most decorated player. Fyffe entered the season shouldering a program's first-ever preseason D3baseball.com All-America nomination. After being recognized several times as a Player to Watch by Collegiate Baseball, he backed it all up with a sensational senior campaign in 2010 with a top notch performance.

"This was a tremendous year for our program and Josh deserves a ton of credit for that," said Head Coach Paul Benim. "He is a special player, but we expect our guys to be at their best as seniors even if they were exceptional early on. Fyffe was outstanding as a freshman and improved each year during his career. He was even better as a senior and delievered a spectacular season."

In addition to being labeled with All-American honors by D3baseball.com, Fyffe was selected as an ABCA/Rawlings second-team All-American. During his freshman season he was honored as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year and his teammates voted him the Behrend Lions Rookie of the Year and team MVP. As a sophomore he led Behrend to its first NCAA Tournament appearance and garnered another All-AMCC selection, the program's gold glove award and was recognized on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region squad. In his junior season he earned the title of AMCC Player of the Year and was also named the ECAC South Region Player of the Year and to the NCAA All-Region team again. This spring he picked up another ECAC First-Team nod and was chosen by his teammates as the team MVP.

"Josh has carved out a terrific career here at Behrend," continued Benim. "He loves to play the game and has been a very positive influence in our program."

For his career, the four time All-AMCC and three time NCAA All-Region performer ranks atop several career categories. He is the all-time hits king with 264 career hits and boasts a career .406 batting average. Fyffe ranks number on in games played, at-bats, assists, and is second all-time for runs, doubles, triples, home runs, and runs batted in.
