Lang Lifts Behrend Over Muhlenberg

FORT PIERCE, Fl.  – Geoff Lang went 3-for-4 with two triples and a double to lead Penn State Behrend baseball team past Muhlenberg 3-1 in non-conference action on Friday in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Evan Bukowski hit an RBI double in the fourth inning to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Behrend went ahead 2-0 thanks to Ryan Kragnes advancing on a wild pitch and an error for a 2-0 edge. The third run was driven in on a two-out RBI single by James Verona.

Muhlenberg cut the lead in the bottom of the seventh with a two-out RBI single, but Verona's single in the top of the fourth provided insurance for the Behrend win.

Ryan Zamiskie got the start and went seven innings, striking out six and giving up four hits. Andy Kountz pitched two innings of relief to earn the save. Kountz induced a 643 double play with runners on first and third to end the game and secure the win.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Susquehanna, beginning at 8:45 a.m.
