Lions Split In Florida

FORT PIERCE, Fl. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team rallied in the eighth inning to defeat Lebanon Valley 6-5, after falling 11-5 to Misericordia in the opener on Thursday in Fort Pierce, Florida.

In the exciting eighth inning, Joe Paterniti's RBI base hit tied the game followed by James Verona's RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Kyle Kline stretched the lead to 5-2.

Evan Bukowski had an RBI single after Matt Bittner smacked a double and stole third, pushing the lead to 6-3. Shane Stauffer pitched the first six innings and gave up one earned run, while Jay Condit pitched three innings of relief to earn the win. Condit also struck out three.

Against Misericordia, Ed Kessler and Bukowski went 2-for-4 from the plate for the Lions. Ryan Kragnes went 3-for-4 on the day.

Behrend returns to action for a single game against Muhlenberg today at 10 a.m.
