ERIE, Pa. – Matt Bittner (Lancaster, NY/St. Mary’s), a member of the Penn State Behrend baseball team, has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Four Baseball Team.
The academic teams are voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
On the field Bittner has been a consistent force all season. The junior leads the team in batting average (.394), hits (56), doubles (19), triples (5), home runs (5), and RBIs (44). In the classroom, the plastics engineering technology major has accumulated a grade point average of over 3.5.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday against Mt. Aloysius at La Roche. Behrend will take on the Mounties at 9 a.m. in game one of the AMCC Championship Round.
