ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend baseball players Matt Bittner (Lancaster, NY/St. Mary’s) and Ryan Kragnes (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) have been named Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region All-Stars.
Bittner earned a spot on the first-team after a monster year. The junior third baseman led the Lions in hits (63), doubles (20), triples (5), home runs (6), and RBIs (52). Bittner finished the year with a .387 batting average and a team-leading .681 slugging percentage. He was named First-Team All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), Second-Team ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-American, and was the ABCA/Rawlings Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year.
Kragnes was honored on the second-team. The junior outfielder led the squad in runs scored (54), walks (31), and on-base percentage (.508) from the lead-off spot. Along with Bittner, he hit .387 with 10 doubles and 18 RBIs. Kragnes earned the program’s Golden Glove for his stellar defense and received First-Team All-AMCC accolades for the second consecutive season. He also broke the school record for stolen bases in a season with 36.
Behrend finished the season with a 29-15-1 mark and won the ECAC South Region Tournament for the third time in school history.
