Hodge Named Assistant Baseball Coach

ERIE, Pa. - Bryan Hodge has been named the assistant baseball coach for the Penn State Behrend Lions. 

Hodge comes to Behrend from East Texas Baptist Univeristy (ETBU) after spending three seasons with the Tigers. He worked under Conference and Regional Coach of the Year, Jared Hood. Last season, the Tigers won 29 games and fell in the conference championships. Prior to ETBU, he was an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Houghton College in New York. 

He brings NCAA Division III and summer baseball league coaching experience to Behrend. Prior to coaching at Houghton, he spent one summer as the assistant coach for the Genesee Rapids in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. He then went back home to Colorado and became the head coach for the Slammers Baseball Club while also being a Sports Performance Coach at 5280 Fitness. He is also NCSF Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. 

Hodge was a four-year starter for Houghton, where he earned All-Empire 8 Conference second-team honors his senior year along with being named the Sportsman of the Year. The captain of his team in his final season, he hit a career best .327 with a .402 on-base percentage. Hodge finished his career playing 115 games which is third best all-time in program history.

He graduated from Houghton in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a minor in business communications. Hodge also received his masters in kinesiology at ETBU in 2021.
