Behrend Baseball Opens Spring Trip With Single Game Against Kenyon

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team will open their annual spring trip in Fort Pierce, FL with a single nine-inning game against Kenyon on Sunday and will play eight games over the next seven days.

Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions opened their season last weekend, splitting a doubleheader with Eastern Mennonite
* Behrend captured their first win in as many games to begin the 2022 campaign with Chase Palmer (Brookeville, PA/Brookeville) hitting the eventual game-winning homerun in the sixth inning
* Palmer was tabbed the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player of the Week on Monday, earning the honors with a slash line of .429/.429/.857, going 3-for-7 with five RBI over two games
* Ryan Weaver (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) also received recognition from the conference as the AMCC Pitcher of the Week earning the win in game one, tossing three innings out of the bullpen allowing just two hits
* 12 different Lions got in the hit-column on opening day with Palmer and Jake Deitz (Erie, PA/McDowell) collecting a team-high three hits
* Behrend was voted to finish atop the conference this season following a championship-winning 2021
