FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team started out Tuesday with a 4-0 setback against Wilkes but bounced back in a big way vs. Ursinus with a 19-1 victory.

Game One:
Wilkes 4, Penn State Behrend 0
Records: Wilkes (5-1), Penn State Behrend (2-2)

Key Moments:

* A pair of RBI singles from Max Alessi and Connor Morgan along with a Behrend error notched the Colonels an early 3-0 lead after two innings
* Wilkes added another run in the top of third to extend its advantage to 4-0
* Junior Daniel Boehme (Peters Township, PA/Seton LaSalle) started a potential Behrend rally with a one-out double in the bottom of the seventh, but the comeback attempt was thwarted by Colonels starting pitcher Zachary Lloyd as he sat down the next two hitters to finish the complete game shutout
* Lloyd tallied 10 strikeouts and three hits in his complete game effort, only allowing the lone extra-base hit to Boehme
* Boehme recorded two of the three hits for the Lions, while right-handed pitcher Jack Baumgartel (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) worked two scoreless innings in relief

Records: Penn State Behrend (3-2), Ursinus (3-4)

Key Moments:

* The Lions batted around in the bottom of the first, scoring eight runs on four hits
* Designated hitter Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) delivered two hits in the first inning, driving in two runners with a single through the right side. Other Lions to record an RBI in the first frame were Boehme, Thomas Nicely (Delmont, PA/Franklin Regional) (two RBIs), David Gibson (North East, PA/North East), Anthony Slate (Hopewell, PA/Hopewell), and Spencer Deitz (Erie, PA/McDowell)
* Sophomore Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) got in on the action with an RBI groundout in the second inning to push Behrend's lead to 9-0
* Ursinus got on the board with a sac fly in the top of third; however, in the bottom half of the inning the Lions plated four more runs to make it 13-1, highlighted by a trio of RBI singles from Boehme, Nicely, and Gibson
* Behrend extended its lead to 15-1 after a fielder's choice RBI from Gibson and a run on a wild pitch from Ursinus
* Hank Shaffer (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) recorded his first career RBI with a bases loaded walk in the eighth
* In his first collegiate start, freshman Andrew Bredel (Clinton, PA/Burgettstown) held the Bears to one run on four hits and struck out six in six innings
* Fellow freshman Colin Bolla (Fairview, PA/Fairview) came out of the bullpen for his first collegiate action and allowed only one hit in two innings of relief
* Nathan Campbell (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) pitched a one, two, three, ninth inning
* At the plate, Gibson tallied a game-high four RBIs on two hits, while Dylan Barnes (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills), Ciocco, and Nicely each finished with two hits apiece
* Nicely and Ionadi both registered three runs batted in
* The last time the Lions scored 19 or more runs was during the 2021 season in a 23-4 win over Pitt-Bradford
