The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team improved to 2-0 in the AMCC after a 9-0 win over the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA.
The blue and white would only drop one game in doubles action. The team of Kelly Manning (Sharpsville/Kennedy Catholic) and John Michalko (Washington/McGuffey) would not give up a game winning 8-0 in number two doubles. Taking the number three doubles by a score of 8-0 was Jake Fling (Erie/Villa Maria) and Brian Kaleta (Harborcreek/Harborcreek). Closing out the doubles action was James Getty (Erie/Harborcreek) and Erkin Nasirli (Baku/Baku Oxford School) who would take the number one doubles by a score of 8-1.
The Behrend Lions would dominate the singles matches as well. The blue and white would drop only one game in singles action as Shane Mosier (Kersey/St. Marys), Jon Henderson (Upper St. Clair/Upper St. Clair), Brad Nagel (West Alexander/McGuffey), Peter Bissert (Pittsburgh/Seton-LaSalle), and Jason Grosch (Warren/Warren) would win in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. While Elliot Blackstone (Wexford/Pine-Richland) would drop one game as he would cruise to a 6-1, 6-0 number one singles victory.
Behrend Lions men's tennis improves to 5-7 overall and 2-0 in
AMCC play, while Pitt-Greensburg falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in
league play.
The Behrend men will continue their home stand as they will play
three more consecutive matches at home. Up next will be a
non-conference match-up with Alfred on March 27 followed by
Frostburg State on March 28th and Penn State Altoona on March 29.
