Behrend Men's Tennis Wins Fifth Straight with 7-2 Win Over Altoona

Home has been good to the Behrend Lions over the last five matches.  The blue and white have only dropped four games in the last five matches out scoring their opponents 41-4.  Behrend welcomed Penn State Altoona to the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA for an AMCC match up on Sunday.  The Behrend Lions would handle the Altoona Lions 7-2. 

The blue and white would sweep the doubles matches on the day.  The team of Elliot Blackstone (Wexford/Pine-Richland) and Jon Henderson (Upper St. Clair/Upper St. Clair) would take number one doubles 8-2.  In number two doubles Erkin Nasirli (Baku/Baku Oxford School) and James Getty (Erie/Harborcreek) came together to win 8-6.  Wrapping up the doubles competition was the team of Kelly Manning (Sharpsville/Kennedy Catholic) and John Michalko (Washington/McGuffey) who would win 8-4 in number three doubles. 

Behrend's top three singles handled the Altoona Lions all winning in straight sets.  Blackstone would win number one singles(6-0, 6-2), Nasirli would win number two singles(6-2, 6-0) and Shane Mosier (Kersey/St. Marys) would win number three singles(6-1, 6-1).

The Behrend Lions will then play four of their final five matches on the road. The blue and white will begin with Pitt-Greensburg on April 3 at 12:30 p.m.
