Behrend's Nasirli Named AMCC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Behrend men's tennis player Erkin Nasirli (Baku/Baku Oxford School) was named the AMCC men's tennis player of the week for the week of March 30, 2009.

The blue and white found themselves in command of the AMCC after the first week of play.  The Behrend Lions played four matches in six days and improved to 8-7 overall and 4-0 in the AMCC.  Helping the Behrend Lions to the great conference record was Nasirli.  Nasirli teamed with James Getty (Erie, PA/Harborcreek) to win four doubles matches.  Against Pitt-Greensburg Nasirli and Getty wouldtake home a commanding 8-0 win.  Three days later they would team up to win number one doubles over Alfred University in a tiebreak match 9-8 (7-4).  The next day Nasirli  and Getty would team up in number two doubles to beat Frostburg State 8-1.  Rounding out an 4-0 week, Nasirli and Getty would team again to win number two doubles over AMCC conference foe Penn State Altoona.

Narsirli would go 3-0 in singles action for the blue and white.  He would take number two singles 6-0, 6-2 against Alfred University.  Against Frostburg State, Narsirli would take a 7-6, 6-3 win to improve to 2-0 on the week.  In the final match of the week Narsirli would take number two singles over Penn State Altoona 6-2, 6-0 to improve to 3-0. 

The Behrend Lions will then play four of their final five matches on the road. The blue and white will begin with Pitt-Greensburg on April 3 at 12:30 p.m.
