Men's Tennis Opens Season at Nazareth Wednesday

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team travel to Rochester, NY for their season opener against non-conference Nazareth on Wednesday. Match time is 4 p.m.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions return four letterwinners and welcome seven freshman to the 2021-22 roster
* Senior Belden Tuttle (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Michael Brudy (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) are returning All-Conference performers
* Behrend will play six matches in the fall and play the majority of its schedule in the spring
* The Lions are set to battle conference opponents Pitt-Bradford and Pitt-Greensburg in the fall
* Last year, Behrend tallied a 2-4 overall record and 2-2 AMCC mark
* The Lions advanced to the AMCC Tournament, falling to Pitt-Greensburg in the semifinals
* Head coach Jeff Barger is entering his 24th season with the program

* The Golden Flyers tallied a 7-3 overall record in a shortened 2021 season
* Nazareth fell 5-4 to Houghton in the Empire 8 title match
* The Golden Flyers had seven players named to the Empire 8 All-Conference Team
* Sophomore Nathan Allen and freshman Isiah McMurray were named to the First Team in singles
